Let's pretend someone asked me what Bea likes to do while she's at home.
Here is your answer [warning: this is a pretty uneventful and poorly shot three minute video]:
To summarize: a little backwards book reading, then a stroll to the litter box to celebrate her new bipedal status, and some kitty chasing followed by trying to cover the cat up with torn out magazine pages. It's a rough life so we mix it up with visits to the park, playdates with her baby bros, and -- of course! -- naps.
We've only ever been the laziest of attachment parenting disciples, but you'd never know we even attempted any semblance of AP from watching Bea. I think some kids deeply need to be parented in that nurture-intense way, but others just aren't into it. Bea would be freaking horrified if I tried to wear her around the house at this point. She's a fairly independent child, at least insofar as a 13-month-old who can't feed herself and still shits her pants can be.
This video doesn't really capture all her BEAstiness (I'm never going to get tired of punning with her name). May I gush? Much to my delight, she's a champ about falling and getting hurt. This weekend at a birthday party she fell off a toy roller coaster (this), with the car landing on top of her, winning a pretty hefty bruise on her chubby little thigh, and the kid did not shed a tear. She -- literally -- batted an eyelash and then got back on the coaster. We've nicknamed her the tankasaurus.
I think she has a future in pro wrestling or the roller derby. Oh my, mommy would be proud! She can take the derby doll name I've always wanted but never used: Surly Temple. God, I love that kid.

She's too cute. Gunnar insists I wear him everyday. Every. Day. At 9 months the kid is built like a tank and must weigh 25 pounds. And he's all: HOLD ME. I have to admit, as much as I love it, I'm envious of you and your independant kiddo.
Haha! As much as I love the Beast, I'm envious of YOU and your affectionate child.
Haha, LOVED the video! Look at her toddle with such determination! Listen to her squawk, and oh! Oh! She reads! Your beababe is super cute :)
Ian is a mix of both there are days wear he will bring me the sling and go Mama. Most days though he thoroughly enjoys his biped status and terrorizes with glee.
It's so fun to see her walking!
She is so fierce. I love watching her systematically destroy and terrorize. Go go little lady!
otto stopped breastfeeding to watch this vid with rapt attention. he especially liked the part where she was under the table - a huge grin of recognition! hey i do that!
