Bea and I are nearly inseparable. If she's awake, she's with me. Sometimes her dad is there too, but it's not very often that Bea and I are separated by more than sheetrock. Last Thursday I snuck out for a rare excursion to the acupuncturist. I was gone for less than three hours. How much could go on in three hours?
Well, for starters, this:
That's right. I leave my baby for three hours and she takes her first steps. The only thing Alden could have done that would be more thoughtful than taking the above video would be to lie. Yes, lie. At least let me believe that I witnessed her first steps, even if Alden had to pretend that he was seeing old news for the first time.
But fine. I missed my baby's first steps. I'll be okay. I can still rejoice in the fact that Beatrix will soon be running around like a maniac. Right now she'll still only take a few steps at a time and only if coerced, but I know we're going to get to her doing cartwheels in no time. I'm ready. Give it to me, kiddo.

* I'm a pretty big fan of acupuncture. At some point I'll write a post about it.

ohhhh! Yes Alden, lie! Pretend this video is from a time capsule in the future. and holy crap the whole scene is fantastic and cute.
I bet this was one of Bea's special ways of bonding with daddy! What a special day!
OH MAH GAWG
I am BAWLING watching this now!
I just watched it three times & I'm all weepy and teary and hilarious!
This is so amazing!
Gretchen is moments away from her first steps -- I can feel it. She's getting better at standing on her own & yesterday she looked like she was trying to get her legs moving too ^_^
So sorry you couldn't see her actual first steps, but thank god for this video!!
Aggggghhhh! I missed Henry's first steps too! Jeff said, "Guess what Henry did?" all casual. I cried but I'm okay now.
It is really, really cute how they hold their arms up like a crazy little monster for balance. We're trying to lure him all over the house with treats and toys.
Go Bea!
XO Carrie
!!! Go Bea you gorgeous amazing thing! I totally cheered at work, watching her little legs wobble and look at her be all determined!! I love the internet - <3! Thanks for sharing this, hey. Bea is all kinds of awesome!
I agree - I lie to my husband all the time about milestones. He's none the wiser, and can be happy in the knowledge that he has been miraculously present for all of these events.
